How it works.
Scoliosis is a complicated mix of joint, muscle, soft tissue and neurological components. Simple braces designed to keep a curve from progressing do not always work and surgery is costly, painful and often requiring follow up surgeries. The Pneumex Scoliosis Program^TM approach is multifold. We will start with increasing flexibility of muscles, ligaments and soft tissue, then work on mobilizing and moving the spine. Finally as the spine shifts we focus on specific muscle strengthening exercises and core strengthening to help hold the correction. Our Pneumex Scoliosis Program^TM is intensive and specialized to each patients needs. A typical visit lasts about two hours.

Scoliosis is an abnormal curve of the spine (backbone). The normal spine is straight. With scoliosis, the spine is crooked and curves to the side. If you look at a spine with scoliosis from the back it will appear to curve in the shape of a C sometimes there will be two curve on the same spine making an S shape. Scoliosis may begin in childhood but often is not noticed until the teenage years. In most cases, the exact cause of scoliosis isn't known. It seems to run in some families. Scoliosis is more common in girls than in boys.

Who does the Pneumex Scoliosis Program^TM treatment?
All Scoliosis patients are treated by Dr. S. Tham, a licensed chiropractor who is trained and certified on the Pneumex equipment and the Pneumex Scoliosis Program^TM protocols, many of which he helped to develop. Over the past eight years Dr. Tham has worked with many scoliosis patients and has attended seminars specifically geared towards scoliosis rehabilitation. Dr Tham is aided by Susan Janssen a specially trained therapy assistant.

Success Stories
Taylor a 16 year old with S curve scoliosis 64° upper and 55° lower. She was treated for three years with bracing, EMS and other techniques used by CLEAR Institute. She was recommended for surgery but her mother wanted to try a less invasive treatment. She came to the FASTER clinic in Sandpoint where she was treated for five weeks. X-rays taken after five weeks show that her curves had been reduced to 35° upper and 31.4° lower. She is no longer a candidate for surgery.
